Pops in the Park

In the month of June in Sacramento they have free concerts in the park. I have known about this but forgot to look it up this year.. Earlier today Shaun and I were trying to decide what to do because our plans were deterred from going to Fresno since Julie's induction got rescheduled to Monday. So we checked out Sac 365 http://www.sacramento365.com/. It's a really awesome site. They have a bunch of events that are going on in Sacramento.. You can narrow your search to just free stuff too! I thought it was pretty awesome. Anyways so we found this concert and realized it was only about 2 miles from our house so we got out our jogging stroller and put our walking shoes on. We stopped at Subway on the way there.. (which was practically free because we still had money left on a gift card that Shaun had stowed away and forgotten about), and we got to the park about 10 minutes before it was supposed to start. It was pretty packed but we found a really good spot on the side of the crowds but really close to the stage. It was pretty good considering how far back some people were. the concert was Ivan Najera and Friends. It was like Latin Jazz/Bluesy type of music. It was really good. We had a nice picnic dinner and just chilled and listened to the music. It started to pick up in tempo about 15 minutes in and that got Jakey up and dancing! He was so cute. He was wearing his Batman shirt so a lot of people kept saying how cute he was and how awesome his shirt was. Anyways, so . Jake had a fun time dancing. I didn't get any really good video because I only had like 30 seconds left on my memory card. Lame!! I got some cute pics though. And then we left when the band took a break after about an hour and a half. It was perfect timing. The kids were starting to get antsy anyways.. So we packed up and walked home. There is a yogurt shop convienantly located on H St on our back home so we stopped and got a little yogurt. Total cost for a Family Night Out: Less than $10. You can't really beat that.. And we didn't even have to pay any gas money!! :-) I'll miss concerts in the park here in Sacramento. The weather is usually awesome and you gotta love the delta breeze coming in at night on those hot nights. Hopefully Vegas has some kind of something like this.. They won't have the breeze but maybe they'll have some free concerts or something!! Hey.. a girl can wish!! Cute pics coming up next......

See the McQueen car in his hand?? We had some money leftover on a Toys 'R Us card and we got that and Mater for him. I don't think I've seen him without in a car in his hand for more than 10 minutes in the past week. He is obsessed with the movie and cars in general. I think it's fun to see his personality developing and seeing what he likes and doesn't like!!

Like Father Like Son!!! Funky Faces are what they do!!

My chill, cool, blue-eyed girl!! Love those eyes!!

I like how he is unintentionally pointing to his Batman logo!!

Dancing with car in hand!!

COMING!! (I love the sun in the background!! It kind looks like the bat signal!!)

GOING to save all the girls from dancing by themselves!!

Jake's New Backpack!!

Last week, Cathy brought Jake a Cars backpack. When she first brought it in.. he didn't seem to really care and it kind sat on the shelf for a couple of days. But a few days ago he started dragging it everywhere he went because he seems to be really into Cars these days. He was always wanting Tarzan and now it's Cars.. Anyways ever since then he's been taking his backpack with him.. so I being the clever Mom that I am pack it with his stuff and make him carry his stuff around. So far he really seems to enjoy and he loves his Vroom Vroom backpack!! He also loves to carry the keys around with him. I have to be careful though because he has already lost one set of my keys. Yikes!! He says keys really weird. I'll have to try and get it on video and post it up here. Check out a couple of pics..

Water Park

You gotta love Summer!! Mostly because we love to spend our days in the sun with the water. My friend invited us to the awesome new Splash Park in Elk Grove. It was kind of far away for us but it was a lot of fun. Jake had a blast playing in the water. He loves "Wa-wa!"

She just enjoyed catching some rays and slept in the stroller most of the time!!

Kept trying to catch the water!!

Our eyes totally match!!

Random Pics - June 2012

I just found these pictures on my camera and realized that I haven't shared them yet!! For Father's Day, I made Shaun Swedish Pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. We let Jake have his first taste of canned whipping cream (YUCK!!) Not really my favorite!! But he seemed to like it..

This is Savannah's usual gaze!! She is getting so big.. I just love her..

"NOSE"

"EYES"

Shaun found this shirt and had to get it.. I said he would rather have a Lightning McQueen shirt.. He doesn't even know who Batman is yet. I was validated in my opinion when Jake didn't want to put the shirt on. He fought me and didn't want it on but I eventually got it on. He kept messing with the cape. He didn't really like it but Dad did. Don't worry Shaun.. eventually he will love Batman!!!

I love his cheesy face!!

Do you see the chair behind him?? He got that for Christmas from his Grandma.. Almost everytime he watches TV, I get the chair for him and tell him to sit in it. That way he doesn't sit so close to the TV. Today he pointed to the TV and said "Vrooom..... pease!!" Which means he wants to watch "Cars". So I put it on and he was standing way super close to the TV. I told him that he shouldn't stand so close.. So he went and grabbed his chair and dragged it to the spot I usually put it and sat down.. I was so impressed that he had been paying attention and realized that the chair is for him to sit and watch TV in. I didn't prompt him to get it or anything.. I just told him to back away from the TV and he went and got his chair. I was really surprised.

Sacramento Children's Museum

Another excursion Wednesday for us Mommy's. We went to this really cool Museum, if you can call it that.. it was just a bunch of really fun, interactive, hands-on stations. They had an art station with a big glass wall that they could paint on.. they had a water area. Jake loved that one. They had a grocery store and a place where they could dress up. They had this cool vacuum thing that you could put little yarn balls or hankerchiefs in and they would pull them through a maze of pipes and then shoot them out. They had this big lite brite. And their were these tracks that they could send golf balls down. Jake absolutely had a marvelous time. It wore him out and he took a good 3 hour nap. That's good enough reason for me to go back. If you are ever in the Rancho Cordova area you should go check it out. I didn't get pictures of everything that he did because Savannah needed to eat and then she got tired. But here are the pictures that I did get!!

He's saying "wa-wa"!!!

He kept trying to drink the water and put the toys in his mouth.

He splashed so much that he got water all over his face!
