My Funny 19 month old!!

Well I thought that Savannah being 5 months old was a big deal but then I realized that that mean Jake is 19 months. It is pretty nice having your kids birthdays on the same day of the month. They were both born on the 31st of different months of course but it does make it pretty easy to keep track of their birthdays. Jake is getting to be such a big boy. He is doing more and more on his own. I hardly ever have to help him when he eats anymore. He makes a mess sometimes but for the most part he is pretty good at it. Yogurt wasn't very easy for him!! :-)

He is starting to talk a lot more too. The other day I was putting his shoes on while he was sitting on the table by our front door. All of the sudden he stood up and pointed to the clock on the wall above him and said.. "cock.." I was like wo.. I didn't know you knew that word.. so I pointed to the door and asked him "what is this Jake?"  He said "dowor." I was like that's my smart boy. Who knew he was paying attention this whole time. It's fun teaching him new words. He can also point to most of his basic body parts and say what they all are. My favorite is "ebow" (elbow). He is the cutest boy ever. I'm so in love with him and his personality. He is a little booger sometimes but really for the most part he is sweet and adorable and helpful!! He helped me put away the tupperware lids while unloading the dishwasher the other day. I can't wait until he can do even more chores.

Love this kid's faces!!

Eating his oatmeal
His favorite foods right now are string cheese, hot dogs, broccoli, milk, fruit snacks (thanks Grandma Cathy for that one), strawberries, oranges, bananas, peaches, pretty much any fruit, spaghetti, ketchup, coconut rice, spanish rice, beans, peanut butter and jelly, chicken nuggets.. Hmm.. I think that my kid pretty much likes everything. Gotta love that!!!

My Blue-Eyed, 5 month old girl!!

I can't believe Savannah is 5 months tomorrow!!! It's crazy how fast time flies. She is getting more and more beautiful everyday. I love her blue blue eyes. Sometimes I can't believe how pretty she is. I can't wait to see how gorgeous she will be as a young woman and eventually as a bride and then a mother herself.. woah.. slow down... I'm sure it'll go that fast but I really just want to snuggle my little angel face all day long.

I have just started her on rice cereal. She is still pretty messy with it but is getting better. She likes the taste but she gets distracted too easily and wants to just grab whatever is around her. I think I'm going to have to get her her own high chair. She recently had an ear infection. That's the first one of those I've had to deal with and I'm not sure if she is just a sport or if the medicine kicked in fast but she hardly whined or fussed at all. She was a trooper about her snotty nose and if her ears bothered her she didn't really show it. I was kinda surprised when the doc said she had one because I knew she had a fever and was congested but I just thought she had a cold.. Turns out she had an infection in both ears.. Poor girl!!

They are really best buds!!

She is getting really cute with Jake and Jake with her. Jake has been an amazing big brother. He is sooo sweet to her and you can tell that he just loves her. Jake loves most everyone though.. but now when he hugs her or kisses her she responds by either smiling or trying to hug him back. I haven't been fast enough with the camera to get a shot of this but I will sometime.. He totally loves making her laugh too. It's so cute and he's always trying to comfort her when she's crying. My favorite is when she is laying on the floor he will come up and lay on her stomach. She will grab his head and he will say hey "mama".. that's what he calls her. They are super duper cute kids. So happy they are mine!!

She was screaming her head off and he kept saying shh and kissing her until I whipped out the camera.

Sacramento Zoo - May 19, 2012

So Jake's friend Jett had his 2nd Birthday at the Sacramento Zoo. Jake had a really good time. His favorite of course were the monkeys but I was feeding Savannah at the time and didn't get a picture of him looking at the Chimpanzees. Shaun said that he loved them though. He also liked the giraffes. I was kind of surprised at the lack of animals at the Zoo. It was kind of sad but the kids still enjoyed it. Then we went across the street and had a picnic in the park. It was fun hanging out with friends and watching Jett open his presents. Jake got him a little stuffed Nemo that he loved. Spending time with friends made me realize how much I'm going to miss everyone here. I'm hoping that making friends in Vegas won't be too hard and I hope I can find friends like the ones that I have here. I was telling Shaun that I feel like there is an unspoken deal between all of us Mom's that we look after and care for each other's kids like they are our own. I'm so hoping that I find that in Vegas because I love having my friends care about my kids as much as I do. I'm wondering if part of that comes from the fact that most of us were around when they were born or at least pretty little. I hope I can find friends like that. I think it does make it a little easier knowing the kinds of friends that I want in my family's life because of the friends that I have had. Anyways here are some pictures from the sad, little Zoo.

Looking at the Flamingos. He thought they were really cool.

He liked the carousel at first and then..

not so much!!!

She is always so smiley!!

Copying the monkeys he saw at the zoo!!

Savannah's many faces!!

I always thought that Jake made a lot of funny faces but I was recently taking a bunch of pics of Savannah and realized she makes a lot of faces too. I love looking at all of her cute and silly faces.. Hope you like them too!  P.S. My poor baby has an ear infection. I'm hoping Jake doesn't pick it up but considering his nose is running like a faucet right now, I'm guessing that he is going to pick it up.

My little driver...

Lately, Jake's favorite thing to do is carry the keys to the car and then help me unlock it. Then I'll open his door and he will climb in and over the center console into the front seat and play while I put Savannah in her car seat. I had my camera on me the other day so I got some good shots of him playing. I love me happy, energetic baby boy! He's so awesome!!!

We Are Moving...

to Fabulous, dry, hot, and exciting Vegas!!

Shaun was accepted to UNLV and Sac State and BYU-Idaho and after much pondering and discussion, and prayer we have decided that UNLV will be the best for Shaun's education and future.

So Shaun will be a Rebel and we will be roasting in the desert. I'm not excited to leave my family. I will miss having everyone so close. But, I'm looking forward to this adventure and I'm hoping that I will learn a lot from whatever my future there will hold. We will be moving the first week in August so I have less than 3 months to get everything ready. I'm not looking forward to all the work but maybe I can get some of that organizing I've been wanting to do done!!!

Farewell my home, California!!! Hopefully this sign is true and I'll be back!

I get knocked down, but I get up again!!

Shaun's music inspired me for this post. He was singing Chumba-Wumba's version of "I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again." It totally reminded me of the kind of month Jake had. I posted these pictures on Facebook but I thought I should blog them for future generations. The first two pics were products of Jake's hazardous tumble over the edge of the stroller in the parking lot.

Unbeknownst to me he wriggled out of his seat belt in the stroller and was trying to get out head first and face-planted on the asphalt just as I was about to grab his leg. It totally felt like a slow-motion scene out of movie. It was pretty trippy watching him go down and me not being able to do anything about it.

Needless to say, just as he healed from his first wounds he decided to add to the decorations on his face. We were at Mormon Helping Hands and he was wearing one of those cute yellow vests and he was trying to climb up the stairs to see his Dad. He ran a little too fast and tripped on the stair or the vest.. I'm not sure which one, and the brow of his eye met the corner of the concrete step. The day before he had smacked the same place on a toy or something and then right before going to Helping Hands he smacked himself in the same spot with the stick that we use to secure the sliding glass door.

I think his eye had enough abuse and it responded by turning purple. I'm really surprised we didn't end up in the ER for this one. He was pretty close to busting it open. I'm grateful I didn't have to take him in for the stitches and he just ended up with the black eye.

I joke all the time about how if you have boys you will most likely end up in the ER before they are 2 years old. So far we haven't had to go and I'm really hoping we don't but he sure does like to cut things close. It does keep life interesting!! Imagine my sarcastic tone when I say, "I can't wait to see what he does next!!" And Jake would probably respond with "I get knocked down, but I get up again, ya never gonna keep me down!!"

Jake and Savannah Check-Ups!!

So my kids had their 4 month and 18 month check-ups today. I was really interested to see where they were growth wise. The doctor we had today must have been 95 years old and she was shaking like crazy. I think it's time for her to hang up the stethoscope. She did surprisingly well considering she could barely hold her hand still to write in the chart. Shaun was nervous that she was going to be giving the shots but I told him the nurse does the shots so he didn't have to worry.

Savannah is 26 inches which is in the 100th percentile (maybe she will be as tall as you Tori!!) She is 15 pounds (90th percentile) and her head is 16.5 inches (75th percentile). Safe to say my girl is a tall chunk with a big head!! But she is so cute. She has been smiling and laughing a lot recently. She has this big open mouth smile. It almost looks like she is just going to bite your head off or something. She loves to grab our faces and anything in her reach. She has learned to blow raspberries just like her big brother. She is generally a very happy baby and is sleeping through the night! We love this little girl.
Who does she look like?? What do you think??
Jake is 34 inches long (90th percentile) He is 26 pounds (50th percentile) and his head is 18.75 inches (50th percentile) So besides being tall.. he is your average, crazy, rambunctious boy. He is into screaming recently which is driving me crazy. He also is kind of a bully with some of his friends so we have been working on sharing  a lot recently. He loves to dance. I need to put up a video sometime of his dance moves. He loves loves loves fruit.. especially oranges, strawberries, and grapes. They are his fave.. He also will usually eat broccoli.
He loves being outside, making funny faces, kissing Savannah, playing with his Dad, going to the park, reading with Mom, and playing on his slide. He is a fun, and energetic 18 month old. He just started nursery last Sunday and he didn't cry once. He has already won over the nursery leaders with his dance moves during music time. I love my boy!!
One of the funny faces I was talking about!!
