Happy Birthday Jake!!!

We had a costume party!! He was grumpy for the first part so I put him down for a nap while everyone was eating and then we played some games!! We had a good time!!

30 weeks!!!

Ok so time really is flying by!!! I'm 30 weeks preggo now!! I can't believe how fat I've gotten.. But I have a plan to take it all back off once this cute little baby comes out.. My ultimate goal, which I had when I first got home from my mission but was deterred by handsome guy named Shaun, is to run a half-marathon.. I really want to do the one in Disneyland.. I think it's viable and do-able goal.. plus going to Disneyland would be a sweet reward for losing the extra weight and running 13 miles... I have a plan and goals all mapped out to get there... My almost 1-year old...

I can't believe how fast time has flown by.. It seems like only yesterday I was standing beside Jake's NICU crib hoping to hold him soon and now he is 21 lbs.. and 29 inches.. and he's turning 1 in 8 days.. I can't believe that this time last year I was about to have a baby and now I'm 10 weeks away from having another one.. I feel a little like a crazy person but I know that it's what I'm supposed to be doing..Besides I'm super excited for Jake to have a friend to play with growing up. They are going to be best buds and he will be the best big brother ever!! He is starting to show a lot more interest in walking.. He will hold my hands and walk all around and he loves to push his little walker activity center thing around. I wouldn't be surprised if he was walking in the next few weeks.. which I will be excited about because then it will be easier when the new baby gets here. He can walk so I won't have to lug him around too!! :-) He his a pretty happy baby and loves to play.. He says Da-da all the time but he just gives me this look when I ask him to say Ma-ma.. It makes me mad because I know that he can say it... but he just won't... and Shaun of course is loving it.. boogers!!!

I'm getting excited for this Saturday.. We are throwing Jake a little birthday party .. I couldn't resist because he has a Halloween birthday.. I mean how can I pass up doing something for that.. It'll be a fun time for sure!!! We are having a costume contest and some fun Halloween games.. I can't wait for Halloween!! His birthday has somehow made it one of my fave holidays now!!

Elder Mangelson is home!!!



Trevor came home this past week. He served in the Billings Montana Mission. He left before Shaun and I got married so this was the first time seeing him as my brother and Jake's first time meeting him to.. Let me just tell you that he took to Trevor pretty quickly. Of course Jake has always been more inclined to go to boys than girls so I wasn't too surprised.. It was really fun to talk to Trev and spend some time with him this past weekend. Whenever I have gone to the airport to pick up a missionary, it seems like the whole group cheers whenever we see them.. for some reason no one cheered except for me but I quickly stopped because no one else was.. But hopefully he knows that we were happy to see him..

Lisa invited us a couple weeks ago to meet down in Vacaville at the Nut Tree. They have a kids play place down there.. with a train and a bunch of other fun stuff. Unfortunately it was kinda rainy so all of the stuff was closed... except for a few of the rocking horses and some little rides. It was fun.. plus we went to Panera Bread which seems to be one of my new favorite places lately.. They have such delicious soups and salads... Yum!!

What's New This Month!!

Jakey is getting so big I can hardly believe it. He is now 11 months old. My mother-in-law took these pictures during conference weekend. He is getting to have such a big personality. He is the biggest goof-ball.. why am I not surprised!! :-) He takes after his Daddy.. He loves making funny faces.. it's hard to get them on camera though.. it's like he knows that we are taking a picture or video so he won't do it but I got a couple of his faces in the pics below.

He is starting to "talk" a little more. He says da-da and ba-ba and ma-ma.. And he knows who those words belong to. Also it's fun because if you ask him what a doggie says.. he say woof-woof.. It's super cute!!
He's the biggest momma's boy.. He will go to other people as long as I'm not around or they have something more interesting for him to play with. Hopefully he will grow out of that. I'm also already having to teach him not to bite. We used to tickle him a lot by pretending to bite him on his sides and legs well probably not the best idea because now he thinks it's ok if he does it too, except he doesn't know how to be soft.. :-) MY little boy is growing up. Hopefully he will be walking by the time this other little baby gets here!!  

What's New

So what's new in the Mangelson family lately?

1. Shaun started school again.... it's been kinda rough.. I was used to having him around more often and helping out.. but now he is gone most of the time.. between work and school.. I usually see him for about 15 min in the morning and 2 hours at night.. of course those two hours he is usually doing homework and I give up on spending time with him and go to bed.. so sad I know but it's worth it.. this is really his last semester but he wants to retake his psychology class plus to keep the grant for next semester he has to have 12 units.. so he's going to try and take some Spanish classes that will count towards his Spanish major.. Hopefully it all works out and we can start applying to Universities.. We are applying all over with the hope that he will get into one of the schools. He hit a rough spot with his grades when we went through everything with Jake. It brought his GPA down but he's working hard to bring it back up...I'm kinda hoping we end up at BYU-Idaho.. I have such good memories from going to school there and I think that he would really like the air up there!! :-)

2. Jake is almost one year old!! He is 11 month at the end of this month and then Halloween is his birthday.. I can't believe that he is that old... and not only that but it means that in 2 months after his birthday we will be welcoming a new little one.. CRAZY!!! but I'm excited...

3.Jake is getting more exciting.. he says "da-da-da-da" and knows it belongs to Shaun.. A lot of times I'll be talking to Shaun on the phone and I'll let him talk to him.. now Jake comes up and grabs the phone and starts saying "da-da-da-da-da" into the phone.. it's super cute.. but he has failed to say ma-ma yet so I'm getting anxious waiting for him to say it.. He mostly makes a lot of noises with his mouth: farts, growling, he loves to blow on my belly or my cheek.. he thinks it's hilarious.. He also loves the word oopsie rght now. When I say it he usually does this cheesy laugh that kind of sounds like a lawnmower failing to start. He is funny and makes me happy... He isn't walking yet but he gets up on things and walks around holding on to it.. but mostly he loves to crawl.. I try and hold his hands to get him to walk and he just tries to sit back down.. or picks his feet up.. "booger face!!" I just really want him to walk before his little sister gets here. It would make life so much easier!!! :-)

4. I'm starting to look pregnant.. Before it just looked like I had added more weight to my already too large belly but now it's starting to stick out and is hard so it looks more like a pregnant belly.. I gave up any fascination I had of looking like a pregnant woman when I got pregnant again without losing all the weight I gained with JAke.

5. I'm excited for the new Fall line-up.. MY faves are Biggest Loser, Parenthood (I love this show!! it feels so real), America's Next Top Model, Survivor, and I'm patiently awaiting for Bones!!!! (It doesn't start until November or something like that!!) Oh and of course Psych.....so excited!! I know I'm a freak!!

6. Trevor is coming home!! Trevor is Shaun's younger brother!! He comes home in about 25 day!! I can't believe how fast it has gone!! I'm excited to see him.. Also one of my really good friends, Pisa, is coming home today.. I'm typing this as I wait to leave to go and greet him at the airport!! I can't wait!!! 

7. I'm so excited for Autumn.. with this pregnancy I have been super hot and am now tired of the high 90's weather we have been having for the past couple of weeks. so not cool!! It's almost OCtober which means the weather needs to start cooling down!! PLEASE!! Speaking of October.. we love Halloween so we decorated our window.. I think it looks pretty sweet!!

We had the ultrasound of this new baby two weeks ago.. I was excited to find out what this little one that's been kicking me every night was... and it's a..................

It's a girl!!! She's right on track.. Now hopefully she'll continue to grow but not too fast.. because if she's to big then I'll probably have to have a repeat C-SEction.. which I really don't want.. I really want to do a VBAC so I'm trying really hard to keep my eating under control and exercising so that she doesn't get too big and I stay in shape... I'm doing pretty good so far!!! Hopefully I can stay on the right track!! Can't wait to dress up this pretty little thing!! And we do have a name... we are thinking about Altaya Noel Mangelson if she's born in December and possibly Altaya Mae Mangelson if she's born in January!!!

So I'm the kind of dork that likes to take newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, and 1 year pics.. I had been doing it at Sears but I decided that it would just as easy and way chepaer just to do it on my own. So I asked my Dad to use his super awesome camera skills and of course his amazing camera to take pics of Jake.. They turned out really cute I think!!! Check them out!!

JULY HAPPENINGS

Ok.... I know that I'm a slacker.. I promise to try and stay caught up... I know some of you like to read about what's going on in our lives... (Shaunna!) :-) Quite a few things happened in July so I'll just go through them briefly... Hope you enjoy!!!

At the beginning of the month we had a family reunion for Shaun's Mom's side up in Tahoe!!! I didn't get very many pictures sadly but it was a lot of fun. We stayed in a sweet cabin and had a blast hanging out at the lake. Jake really likes the water except for when it's cold.. go figure.. :-) But he had a lot of fun playing in the sand.. of course I didn't get a picture of that. :-(
The only bummer of that trip was he got sick towards the end. I think he was teething again. He had a pretty high fever and was super out of it. We couldn't get him to smile during the pictures but the pics that Shaun's cousin Morgan took turned out pretty good anyways.

Ok.. so I don't have those family pictures downloaded on this computer yet.. They are on Shaun's ... so when I get a chance I'll get on and add them to this post.

Jakey's new passion is "helping" me unload the dishwasher. He likes to grab the silverware and play with it. I have to be careful to make sure that there aren't any knives in the silverware basket.

Later that month Shaunna and her husband Chris came into town and we had a lot of fun. The girls had a spa and jewelry-making night... We had sooo much fun.. getting our hair cut.. getting massages and pedicures, and making really cute earrings. It was fun to have some bonding time. The boys went and played golf and had burgers and shakes. They had fun too... even though they aren't really golfers!! :-) And then we went to a Giants game!! They lost but it was still a lot of fun.. Shaun and I took the BART down to San Fran and Jake was super cute interacting with all the people on the BART. He was in a really good mood.. Smiling and laughing and talking to all the people. He did really well during the game.. I was super surprised. He didn't get really grumpy and even though it was cold he was a trooper. Shaun gave up his sweatshirt and Jake looked pretty cute.. My camera died and I don't have a picture of that.. I'm so unprepared!! Sad.. But we had a really fun time!!
